Belgium win World Cup ticket after beating Estonia

BELGIUM locked their World Cup tickets after their 3-1 win over Estonia at the Roi Baoudoin stadium in Brussels on Sunday (14/110 early in the morning WIB).

Christian Benteke, who had the opportunity to emerge as the spearhead of the Belgian attack amid an injury crisis up front, paid for the confidence by opening the hosts’ advantage in the 11th minute.

Despite continuing to dominate the game, Belgium were only able to double their advantage in the 53rd minute thanks to a long shot from Yannick Carrasco, which ended Benteke’s header.

Estonia retaliated in the 70th minute thanks to Erik Sorga, who snatched the ball from Rauno Sappinen’s shot but, four minutes later, Thorgan Hazard restored Belgium to a two-goal lead that lasted until the pause.

The victory saw Belgium take Group E with 19 points, while Estonia was stuck in fourth place with four points.

In another game at the same time in Cardiff, hosts Wales won 5-1 at home against the last club Belarus.

Aaron Ramsey scored the winning goal for Wales which was complemented by goals from Neco Williams, Ben Davies and Connor Roberts, while the visitors were only able to respond once by Artyom Kantsavy.

Wales moved up to second in Group E with 14 points, three points ahead of the Czech Republic.

The last Group E game will be on Tuesday (16/11) when Wales host Belgium and the Czech Republic meet Estonia.

A draw was enough for Wales to secure second place. (Ant / OL-1)
