Sick, Rice withdraws from England national team

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has withdrawn from England’s World Cup qualifier due to illness.

Rice will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino in a bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

“Declan Rice has withdrawn from the England national team. Unable to train due to illness since moving to St George’s Park, he returned to West Ham United and will not make the next Cup qualifiers of the world, “said the English Football Association (FA).

“There are no plans to add any players to the England national team at the moment. Mason Mount and Luke Shaw have not joined the squad and their condition is still being assessed after surgery dental and concussion, “continued the AF.

Previously, the England national team had already lost Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford and Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse due to fitness issues.

Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has been called up to the Three Lions squad for the first time since Rashford and Ward-Prowse were sent off.

England are currently top of Group I and need four points in their last two matches to secure a 2022 World Cup ticket.

The Three Lions will host Albania at Wembley on Friday (12/11) before heading to San Marino for Monday’s game (15/11). (AFP / OL-1)
