STEVEN Gerrard will always be in the hearts of Liverpool fans. Next month, Saturday (11/12), the legend will return to Anfield, home of Liverpool.
However, the man who is familiarly known as Stevie G, returned to Liverpool not as a big Liverpool family. He will come back as an “enemy”.
Gerrard will return to Anfield to lead Aston Villa in the Premier League. Gerrard, Thursday (11/11), officially took over as Aston Villa coach replacing nDean Smith who was sacked last week.
Gerrard will be tasked with improving the performance of Aston Villa, who have lost five straight Premier League games. The Villains can only accumulate 10 points out of a total of 11 Premier League games and must be prepared to be just two points out of the relegation zone.
They will face Brighton and Crystal Palace, before playing a tough game against defending champions Manchester City on 2 December. Before returning to Anfield in Week 16, Gerrard is also due to host Leicester City so that he will face practically three of the top five teams from last season in a row.
Gerrard is one of Liverpool’s greatest legends who has been loyal to the Reds for 26 years. The former England international joined Liverpool academy in 1989 and made his first-team debut in November 1998 at the age of 18.
He was named club captain five years later replacing Sami Hyypia. Gerrard left the club in 2015 before hanging up his boots at the LA Galaxy a year later.
Although he couldn’t win a single Premier League, Gerrard led Liverpool to an epic comeback against AC Milan in Istanbul to win the 2004/2005 Champions League. (Goal / OL-15)
