Environment Agency DKI Jakarta released sources of air pollution and found motor vehicles to be the main problem in the capital. The conclusions of the main problem were obtained from the results of an inventory of the sources of air pollution in 2020 with data from 2018 on fuel consumption in the sectors of transport, industry, household, energy and others.
“From the research, it is clear that motor vehicles are a key sector that must be addressed in order to improve air quality in Jakarta,” said spokesman for the Jakarta Environment Agency. , Yogi Ikhwan, in Jakarta, Thursday 11/11. .
The results of the study revealed that the contribution of air pollution in Jakarta by the transport sector was 72.4 percent NOx, 92.36 percent CO, 57.99 percent PM10 and 67.03 percent PM2.5.
“Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector is the biggest source of pollution for SO2 and the second for NOx, PM10 and PM2.5,” Yogi said.
The research was conducted in three locations, namely Kebon Jeruk, Lubang Buaya, Gelora Bung Karno.

In conclusion, whether it is the dry season or the rainy season, the main source of PM2.5 comes from motor vehicle emissions.
These results now form the basis of Jakarta’s air pollution reduction program by expanding public transport networks and improving pedestrian access.
“However, the key to reducing emissions from vehicle sources comes from all of us or private vehicle owners. For this, we also prioritize policies for implementing private vehicle emissions testing,” Yogi said.
The emission test would be able to monitor the emissions of vehicles traveling in Jakarta so that they do not exceed quality standards. (OL-7)
