PSSI satisfied with Shin Tae-yong’s performance

PSSI PRESIDENT Mochamad Iriawan rated Shin Tae-yong’s performance positively as the South Korean coached the Indonesian national team. According to Iriawan, at the Bung Karno Intermediate Stadium in Jakarta on Wednesday, Shin improved the performance of the Indonesian national team, including the Under-19 and Under-23 age groups.

“PSSI, through a team of Exco members such as Mr. Enri Erawan and Mr. Haruna Sumitro as well as Mr. Secretary General Yunus Nusi and Technical Director Indra Sjafri, assessed after the U-23 national team match against the ‘Australia (2022 Asian Cup U-23 Qualifying) and yesterday’s results were good, “said colloquially known Iwan Bule.

He considered that as long as Shin was doing well, the Indonesian national team had performed well against Australia. Despite the loss, the appearance of the Garuda Muda team was considered good. This can be seen in the final results of the return leg which differed only by one point, namely 2-3 and 0-1.

“We rarely lose narrowly against Australia, usually with a big score, say 5-0, and that is our consideration,” said Iriawan.

Next, Shin is considered to have completed his job well after qualifying the Indonesian senior national team for the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers, after crushing Taiwanese resistance in a home and away match, 2- 1 and 3-0 respectively. These results also helped improve the position of the Indonesian men’s national team in FIFA by 10 ranks, from 175 to 165 at the end of October 2021.

“Before against Taiwan, Shin told us he was ready to be sanctioned if he didn’t get the maximum results. However, in the end we won and our FIFA rankings went up,” said Iriawan.

Now, PSSI is targeting Shin Tae-yong to bring the Indonesian national team to the AFF Cup 2020. “We hope the national team will reach the goal,” said Iriawan.

The AFF Cup 2020 takes place from December 2020. In this competition, Indonesia joined Group B with Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos. The “Garuda” team will play its first match on December 9, 2021 against Cambodia.

Next, Indonesia will face Laos on December 12, 2021, Vietnam three days later and Malaysia on Sunday December 19, 2021. All matches for the Indonesian national team will take place at Bishan Stadium in Singapore. The AFF Cup 2020 was held at the center due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (OL-8)
