Vehicle tickets failing the postponed emission test next year

The provincial government DKI Jakarta has decided to postpone the imposition of fines for vehicles that do not pass the emission test. DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (LH) chief Asep Kuswanto said the postponement was made until next year.

Previously, the Ministry of the Environment had planned that on November 13, a fine would be imposed on vehicles that did not or did not pass the emission test.

“If that’s the case, I think we’ll postpone it. Because we think the number of vehicles tested for emissions is still very low. So we’ll postpone it, and the delay will be until when, hopefully. early January next year, “Asep told City Hall on Monday (8/11).

With this delay, the Ministry of the Environment will continue to extend the socialization period for the emission test of motor vehicles using fuel oil in the capital. The promotion of emission tests as well as the plan of fines for vehicles that do not pass the emission test is the implementation of the Governor’s Regulation No.66 of 2019 concerning the control of air quality .

“We are going to continue to socialize because we feel that yesterday there were also incidents at certain times when when we organized a free emission test it again caused traffic jams in the west. Then at the LH office him – even, ”he explained.

The enthusiasm of people who want to perform emissions testing is quite high, but it is always inversely proportional to the location of the emissions testing service provider. According to Asep, his party was unable to provide free and massive show test locations. For this reason, the Ministry of the Environment will cooperate with official workshops to provide a chargeable emission test.

“Indeed, a lot of people have asked us to do socialization first. Then we will add more emissions testing workshops so that people can continue to do emissions testing without having to stand in line. as they are now, ”he said. (OL- 4)
