Smith Rowe called up the England national team

Arsenal striker Emile Smith Rowe on Monday 8/11 was called up for the England national team for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino for the first time.

Smith Rowe, previously, was expected to make the National Under-21 team before being called up by Gareth Southgate.

The 21-year-old forward has performed well for Arsenal this season. He has appeared in all of the Gunners’ Premier League games and has scored in three straight games, the last of which was Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Watford on Sunday (7/11).

Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw, Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse and Mason Mount from Chelsea have not joined the Three Lions squad due to fitness issues.

England face Albania at Wembley on Friday (12/11) before heading to San Marino for a game three days later.

Southgate’s side have the chance to advance to the 2022 World Cup after taking the lead in Group I with a three-point lead over second-placed Poland with two games remaining in the competition.

Raihan’s four points in the next two qualifiers will give England a ticket to Qatar. (AFP / OL-1)
