DKI Provincial Government Gives Written Warning to Pharmaceutical Companies Regarding Paracetamol Waste in Jakarta Bay

The provincial government of DKI Jakarta, through the Environmental Service (LH), issued a sanction in the form of a written warning to a pharmaceutical company for proving that it was dumping pharmaceutical waste into Jakarta Bay without optimal treatment.

According to the head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, the sanction is the result of research conducted by the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency with pharmaceutical companies in Jakarta after the discovery of paracetamol content in Jakarta Bay from of water samples.

“Yes there is, I forgot the name of the identified plant, mainly in the Jakarta Bay area, the initials are pharmaceuticals. It was proven that there was a level of COD BOD, then it has also been proven to dispose of the wastewater treatment plant and it has not been implemented correctly, ”Asep said on Monday (8/11).

Asep said the first written warning had been given and the company was required to repair the waste treatment plant (UTE) at its plant.

“If there is no fine, the administrative sanction will be a warning letter from us to the company,” he said.

Asep continued, his party not sure since when the pharmaceutical factory made the mistake. In addition, the results of the water sample were not known until last October, following the findings of the Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI).

“We will see if they can fix it in a few days. What is clear is that it will take at least 3-4 months to build an integrated WTP. We will check again in the next 3-4 months,” he concluded. .

On the other hand, investigations were also carried out in other pharmaceutical factories but were only found in this one company. (OL-7)
