Ahead of the January transfer window, Manchester United defender Phil Jones is said to have attracted the interest of no less than 13 clubs. According to The Sun, the Red Devils have been inundated with interest in the defender, who would recover 100% from an injury.
Two Premier League clubs Watford and Newcastle United are believed to be eyeing Jones and considering borrowing him in the second half of next season. Another interest came from the Championship club. Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney apparently admires Jones and wants him to be in Derby County, the club he currently runs.
Jones, who is currently 29, has not played since scoring in Manchester United’s FA Cup victory over Tranmere in January 2020. However, the defender who once called Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be one of Man United’s best players is still eager to prove himself under the leadership of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Jones currently has two more years on his contract at Old Trafford, where he pocketed a salary of £ 130,000 a week. Jones joined Old Trafford in the 2011/2012 season after being bought out from Blackburn Rovers as one of England’s most talented defenders at the time. In a nearly decade-long spell with the Red Devils, he made 224 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals. (Goal / OL-15)
