Agent denies reports Ramos left PSG due to fitness issues

SERGIO Ramos has no plans to leave Paris Saint-Germain despite not making his French club debut as he is still recovering from an injury, according to his brother and agent, René.

Ramos has not played for PSG since arriving from Real Madrid this summer due to an unresolved calf issue. The issue sparked speculation that PSG wanted to end Ramos’ contract earlier, but the rumors were immediately dismissed by René.

Ramos has only appeared five games this year due to fitness issues, but PSG still hope he can help the French club win the Champions League by signing him from Madrid at the end of his contract. However, the 35-year-old defender has yet to be able to get back into shape and has to delay his debut even further.

Ramos signed a huge two-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants and now PSG don’t want to have a well-paid player sitting on the bench.

However, René dismissed the speculation and insisted the veteran defender would return. “Sergio Ramos does not plan to retire or terminate his contract. There is no doubt about Sergio. It is a physical problem, he will play when he can,” said René, quoted by Goal on Sunday (7/11).

PSG have confirmed that Ramos is expected to resume training next week. If there is no problem, Ramos could make his PSG debut against Nantes after the international break on November 20.

PSG have currently won 11 of their first 13 Ligue 1 matches and are 10 points clear at the top of the table. They should also qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League as they currently occupy second place, one point behind Manchester City at the top of Group A. (OL-8)
