Lionel Messi will definitely not play RB Leipzig in the Champions League after his name was not included in the Paris Saint-Germain squad due to injury. Messi was not included in the 21 players coach Mauricio Pochettino brought to RB Leipzig for the Champions League group stage game on Thursday.
Pochettino explained that the Argentine superstar suffered an injury after PSG’s 2-1 win over Lille last week. PSG have confirmed that Messi had two foot problems at once which ruled him out against the German club.
“Leo Messi has a problem tendon in his left leg and his knee pain after bruising, “wrote PSG in a statement published on the club’s official website, quoted by Goal on Tuesday (2/11).
PSG have not said when Messi is expected to recover, but it has been reported that the 34-year-old will miss several games. Messi is known to have suffered from knee pain since playing for Argentina in the international break in September and would be flying to Spain to receive expert treatment.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is uncertain against Bordeaux on Sunday and could miss Argentina’s qualifiers at the 2022 World Cup. (OL-8)
