ANTONIO Conte has officially become the coach of Tottenham Hostpur, replacing sacked Nuno Espirito Santo. The former Inter Milan coach is on a mission to lift Tottenham who are now perched in ninth position in the English Premier League table.
To fix the Lilywhites squad, Tottenham’s nickname, Conte reportedly came up with a list of players he wants to bring to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Conte is said to be eyeing two of his proteges when he brought Inter Milan to the Italian Serie A champions last season and four Serie A stars from other clubs.
From Inter Milan, Conte is said to be eyeing two of his former players, namely Dutch defenders Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic, who can be quite realistic targets. Additionally, de Vrij is reportedly only valued at € 30m as Brozovic’s contract expires in June 2022.
Meanwhile, Juventus players targeted by Conte are Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt. The old lady won’t just let go of her flagship player, but Chiesa will fit into a 3-5-2 lineup as a winger, or become a second forward if Conte chooses to use a 4-4-2. While De Ligt should be a mainstay of defense, it will be Spurs’ future if bought successfully.
Another prominent player is AC Milan center-back Alessio Romagnoli, whose contract also expires at the end of the season. Conte also glanced at young Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Like Juventus and the penggawanya duo, winning over Fiorentina will be a difficult step. Moreover, Vlahovic is also said to be the target of Manchester City. (Goal / OL-15)
