Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has opened the door for Eden Hazard to leave the Santiago Bernabeu during the January transfer window. The Italian manager insisted that if a Real Madrid player spoke to him and wanted to leave the club, he would not stand in his way.
Hazard has gone through a rough patch after nearly two and a half years at Real Madrid since leaving Chelsea. His career at the Bernabeu has been marked largely by injuries and poor form. The position of the Belgian national team player on the left wing is now occupied by Vinicius Junior. Hazard has also reportedly been unhappy with his situation at Madrid recently and wanted to join Juventus during the January transfer window.
“Never in my coaching career have I forced a player to stay when he wants to leave. In my opinion, I have no doubts about that.”
Hazard’s future is currently in limbo after joining Madrid from Chelsea in 2019, which broke the Spanish club’s transfer record. Despite being included in the squad that won La Liga in his inaugural season in Madrid, Hazard only made 16 appearances in the competition and scored one goal.
The following season, Hazard was able to record just 14 games as Madrid ended the 2020-21 season without a title. Hazard has made nine appearances for Los Blancos this season, including one in the Champions League and registering an assist. (OL-8)
