Former New York governor accused of sexual harassment

FORMER New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Thursday (10/28), was charged with a sex crime.

The charges are the first to be filed since the former powerful politician was forced to resign this year over a series of sexual harassment allegations.

“The charges against former Governor Andrew Cuomo have been brought before Albany City Court,” New York court spokesman Lucian Chalfen said.

The lawsuit alleges Cuomo buried his hand in his victim’s blouse and grabbed her breasts in December 2020.

The lawsuit was filed by the Albany County Police Station on behalf of New York State.

Cuomo resigned last August after prosecutor Letitia James filed a report alleging the 63-year-old sexually assaulted 11 women, including his former staff.

Cuomo vehemently denied the charges and accused his victims of political revenge.

Cuomo rose to prominence last year for his work tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City.

If convicted, Cuomo faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison. (AFP / OL-1)
