Arteta chooses to focus on managing Arsenal instead of coaching Barcelona

MIKEL Arteta insists he is happy at Arsenal and focused on improving the form of the London club despite his recent affair with Barcelona following the sacking of Ronald Koeman. “I am very happy at Arsenal and honored to be here, and my only goal is here,” Arteta said, quoted on Arsenal’s official website on Friday (10/29).

Arteta declined to say too much about speculation over Barcelona’s job offer, saying only that the club had undergone extensive testing amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the departure of iconic figure Lionel Messi plus early this season. The 39-year-old coach is only praying that the former club where he studied when he started his football career can overcome all the difficulties encountered. “We’ll see. Hopefully everything goes well at the end,” he said.

Meanwhile, Arteta is preparing to accompany Arsenal to visit Leicester City’s headquarters at King Power Stadium for the tenth Premier League game on Saturday (10/30). “Both teams will definitely try to win. We already know it will be a tough game. We have experience against them and will make the best preparations possible,” he said.

Having started the season with three losses, Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last six games, four of which have been won. Arsenal are currently ranked tenth in the table with a collection of 14 points. “There is still a lot to improve and everyone in the team realizes that we are not where we want to be,” said Arteta. “We want to be the best and to get there there are a lot of things that need to continue to be improved,” concluded the Spanish tactician.
